Job Description
GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
To perform general accounting functions including processing timecards/electronic time records for all GSS employees and support Senior AP Specialist in invoicing processing, vendor payments, and management of payables.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Payroll:
Collect and record employee time information into payroll system.
Monitor accuracy of computer records and information.
Take corrective action as required to timecard records.
Coordinate file transfer to Corporate payroll for paycheck processing; distribute payroll checks.
Responsible for transfer of records to Job Cost Ledger and approved corrections to related data.
Prepare and distribute various reports including weekly payroll summary, time and attendance, overtime and others as needed.
Review and transfer General Ledger journal entries, noting any necessary corrections.
Respond to employee timecard and payroll inquiries.
Accounts Payable:
Ensures timely processing of assigned vendor invoices.
Verifies invoices against open purchase orders and material receipts.
Ensures valid approval of expenses to be processed.
Ability to process weekly payments to vendors, as required.
Resolves issues with open balances between purchasing, material control departments and suppliers.
Understand monthly AP closing process, as required.
Ensure that supporting documents are collected and maintained with invoice records.
General:
Cross train in other areas of the finance department as necessary.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required: High School diploma or equivalent.
Required: 2 years related accounting experience.
Required: Basic knowledge of accounting theory.
Required: Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
Preferred: Government contract/accounting experience a plus.
WORK ENVIROMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Office environment.
Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time.
Ability to perform repetitive motion.
Ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
