What are the responsibilities and job description for the Control Account Manager (CAM) position at Kratos Defense?
The Control Account Manager (CAM) is responsible for planning, budgeting, executing, monitoring, and reporting cost, schedule, and technical performance of a scope of work authorized by the Program Manager (PM). The CAM demonstrates ownership of the scope of work assigned and leads resources to execute the work within budget and on schedule.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Plan the work tasks and resources needed to execute the scope of work authorized in the Control Account following Earned Value Management System (EVMS) processes and procedures.
- Assign work tasks to resources and manage execution within budget and schedule.
- Collaborate with EV Team (scheduler/planner, EV Analysts, and Program Planning and Control (PP&C) Manager) to follow EV processes and produce data deliverables and reports for internal and external customers.
- Document artifacts/objective evidence/quantifiable backup data (QBD) to support status of technical performance within Control Account work scope.
- Analyze root cause of cost and schedule variances on a monthly cadence. Develop and implement corrective actions to correct cost and schedule variances.
- Evaluate and update Estimate to Complete (ETC) and Estimate at Complete (EAC) for Work Package and Planning Packages.
- Identify risks and opportunities within the Control Account scope of work, develop handling plans, and report status of risks and opportunities at Risk Review Board.
- Support Program Management Reviews (PMRs), Program Surveillance Reviews, and Program Baseline Reviews.
- Manage and conduct surveillance on subcontractors supporting Control Account work scope.
- Review, assist with the development, and reporting of Basis of Estimates (BOEs), Statement of Work (SOWs), as needed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required:
- BS/BA Degree in a related discipline
- 5 years of experience in EVMS, Project Management, finance, or scheduling.
- Proficiency with MS Excel & MS PowerPoint, E/MRP tools, and familiarity with cost and schedule tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated proficiency in Earned Value Management (EIA-748) and/or Integrated Master Scheduling with government compliance contracts.
- Experience with government contracts, and ability to understand high level technical concepts.
