The Circ Bar is a lively karaoke bar in the heart of Ann Arbor, a favorite among University of Michigan students and locals alike. In addition to our vibrant nightlife, we host weddings, dinner parties, and private events, offering a dynamic blend of casual dining and upscale catering. We’re looking for a creative, passionate, and experienced Head Chef to elevate our food program, develop exciting menus, and lead our kitchen team.
Job Responsibilities👨🍳 Menu Development & Innovation
- Design and refine a menu that complements our lively bar atmosphere and private event offerings.
- Introduce creative, high-quality dishes that cater to both casual bar-goers and upscale event guests.
- Stay ahead of food trends and customer preferences, especially within the university crowd.
🔥 Kitchen & Team Leadership
- Hire, train, and manage kitchen staff, fostering a positive and efficient work environment.
- Ensure high food quality, consistency, and presentation.
- Implement best practices for food safety, cleanliness, and efficiency.
💰 Cost Control & Inventory Management
- Oversee food ordering, inventory, and supplier relationships.
- Control food costs while maintaining high standards.
- Minimize waste and ensure maximum kitchen profitability.
🎤 Event Catering & Special Menus
- Develop customized menus for weddings, corporate events, and private parties.
- Work closely with event planners to execute high-end dining experiences.
✅ Proven experience as a Head Chef, Executive Chef, or Sous Chef in a high-volume kitchen.
✅ A passion for both bar food and upscale catering.
✅ Ability to lead and motivate a kitchen team.
✅ Strong knowledge of inventory management, food costing, and health regulations.
✅ Creativity and adaptability in a fast-paced, nightlife-driven environment.
✅ Experience in event catering is a plus!
