GENERAL JOB DUTIES
- Recruit, hire, onboard and retain employees.
- Provide a positive and welcoming environment for all employees.
- Maintain personnel files for current and past employees.
- Oversee the coordination of all staff training as it relates to DHS requirements.
- Train staff on the software necessary to complete time and attendance, FMLA reporting, and program documentation.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
- Participate in developing HR’s goals, objectives, and philosophy.
- Suggest policies and practices to recruit and retain the best employees and help find ways for current employees to succeed at the company.
- Coordinate and participate in the employment process:
- Maintains all employment requisitions and posts job openings in compliance with the Union contract.
- Generates communication to applicants.
- Participates in recruitment for exempt and non-exempt positions; conducts pre-screening of resumes and applications before forwarding for review.
- Assists applicants with necessary, pre-employment paperwork such as drug screen and background check authorization & release forms. Submits on-line, pre-employment checks as necessary.
- Makes verbal and written offers per established guidelines.
- Ensures all new hire paperwork is complete and accurate, including background checks
- Oversees on-boarding process for new employees and employees who transfer.
- Coordinates with appropriate departmental personnel regarding start dates for newly hired employees.
- Verifies internal transfers are eligible to transfer per the Union contract.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and organizational policies regarding the recruitment and employment process.
- Oversee New Employee Orientation program including scheduling dates and locations, coordination of services (food, technology, etc.), making adjustments to NEO schedule as needed, and presenting information.
- Responsible for completion of all training activities:
- Prepare and distribute a monthly training calendar.
- Coordinate the training classes and evaluation of instructors.
- Provide feedback to management on training completions and effectiveness.
- Submit required forms for reimbursement in an accurate and timely manner to DHS.
- Maintain training records.
- Coordinate off site trainings.
- Ensure staff complete all required training to comply with regulatory agencies.
- Instruct classes and assist in developing new classes as needed.
- Participate in OJTs with management and professional staff.
- Complete background checks on clients as required.
- Coordinates all payroll and job status changes and communicates changes to appropriate personnel.
- Input all employee and wage information into the agency’s computer program and monitor inputted data for accuracy.
- Provide to the finance department documentation on changes made to all employee and wage information via staff master.
- Compile and maintain information on employee eligibility for:
- Benefit Eligibility
- Longevity/Anniversary
- Provide reference check material in accordance with agency policy.
- Serve as the HR Representative on the Training Committee.
- Organize feedback meeting for the Executive Director and V.P.s.
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner
ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES
- Maintain personnel files for all current and past employees.
- Participate in and serve as official secretary for the Accident Review Board.
- Performs general administrative duties such as copying, faxing, and work processing as needed.
- Assumes responsibility for personal work areas, maintaining them in a presentable manner.
- Assists Manager with special projects and other duties as assigned.
- Attends in-service training and education sessions, as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
