Escrow and Title Specialist (Closer)
Primary Responsibilities:
- Enhance and diversify your knowledge of the title industry, ensuring compliance with state-specific requirements and staying current with industry changes.
- Open incoming files and order title production from underwriters.
- Prepare and review title commitments, identifying title issues needing resolution.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of state-specific requirements relating to title.
- Communicate directly with all parties to schedule dates, times, and locations.
- Order payoffs for liens and judgments, including but not limited to mortgages.
- Coordinate with lenders to prepare the Closing Disclosure.
- Work with seller closing companies to prepare final seller figures.
- Balance files with lenders and sellers for the disbursement of funds.
- Communicate with lenders regarding the delivery of final papers for execution at closing.
- Properly execute all closing documents with buyers or sellers.
- Sort, scan, and return executed documents to lenders and policy departments.
- Disburse funds and send them to designated locations.
- Prepare the electronic certificate of real estate value (ECRV).
Supplemental Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with sellers and representatives from other title agencies to obtain documentation and clear title defects.
- Collect applicable fees on settlement documents.
- Provide routine status updates.
- Respond promptly to internal and external inquiries.
- Maintain a sense of calm and professionalism in all situations.
- Assist in processing buyer and seller files.
- Meet with buyers and sellers for closing files as needed in New Hope and Monticello.
- Assist in scheduling buyer and seller files.
- Handle bank approvals and set up wires.
- Monitor email boxes and delegate tasks appropriately.
- Prepare staff training and implement process adjustments.
- Perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
Required Skills:
- Knowledge of Title and Escrow Processes: Thorough understanding of title insurance, escrow, and closing processes. Familiarity with state-specific requirements and regulations.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to identify and resolve title issues. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple files and tasks accurately.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Proficiency in communicating with clients, lenders, real estate agents, and other stakeholders.
- Customer Service Orientation: Strong client service skills to provide exceptional experiences. Ability to handle client inquiries and concerns professionally.
- Time Management: Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment. Meeting deadlines for various tasks and closing schedules.
