Position Summary

Gather and analyze spatial data from external sources for internal Kroger clients. Conduct research to determine the best source of data and conduct analyses using charts, graphs, spreadsheets and/or maps. Demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.

Essential Job Functions

  • Be a liaison between Kroger enterprise departments and the Corporate Research team
  • Gather information to design/create demographic and thematic displays of varying types used in Real Estate and marketing for enterprise projects
  • Lead midlevel to large projects with little to no guidance from leadership
  • Develop scripting and other techniques to streamline and automate processes
  • Conduct analysis for a variety of projects and recommend actionable solutions based on data and trends
  • Manage multiple projects at once, reprioritizing priorities as necessary
  • Interpolate statistical data to arrive at reasonable assumptions for analysis
  • Append customer segmentation information with demographic and behavioral variables for marketing and merchandising projects
  • Design/create reporting applications or modules using our strategic analytics platform (Alteryx) to assist in automating standard reports
  • Interpret, design and create customer profiles, market opportunity reports and customer location materials for enterprise projects
  • Oversee and assist in the maintenance of standard enterprise display maps
  • Use loyalty card and mobile location data to assist in interpreting, designing, and creating customer trade area maps
  • Prepare demographic and competition data for the annual enterprise business plan
  • Assist in the maintenance of population databases used in research analysis
  • Assist in maintaining the integrity and structure of databases used by the Corporate Research department
  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends and new technologies
  • Must be able to perform the essential job functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Minimum Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in geography, GIS, or related field or equivalent experience (GIS certificate)
  • 2 years work experience as a data analyst or equivalent
  • Strong statistical aptitude and ability to learn advanced statistical skills necessary for advancement
  • Ability to handle sensitive information while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to organize and prioritize a variety of tasks/projects
  • Ability to collaborate with coworkers on ideas/techniques and work with clients to define project scope and explain results
  • Ability to develop new skills based on industry trends and technologies
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, GIS and internet applications
  • Ability to work in detail with maps and other visual effects
  • Desired Previous Experience/Education

  • GIS Certificate
  • Spatial data analysis
  • Six Sigma training
  • Database creation and software coding
  • Extensive production of maps using GIS technology
