Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Commercial Electrical Estimator to join the KRS Electric team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction estimating and management, with expertise in commercial electrical projects of varying scope and complexity. This role involves analyzing project specifications, preparing detailed cost estimates and proposals, and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure accurate pricing and successful project delivery.
Responsibilities
- Review project plans and specifications to determine project scope, plan requirements, and technical details for estimating.
- Analyze project drawings, blueprints, and other documents to perform accurate quantity take-offs and material calculations.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor services (if any), and overhead.
- Negotiate prices with suppliers and subcontractors to achieve competitive bids.
- Utilize software tools such as Accubid or other proven software for efficient estimating processes.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other personnel to ensure alignment on project goals.
- Analyze historical data, industry benchmarks, and cost databases to guide current estimates and to inform future estimates and improve accuracy.
- Maintain organized records of estimates, bid tracking, contracts, requirements and correspondence related to bidding processes.
- Coordinate proposal reviews with CEO, COO, or VP.
- Submit thorough and timely bids with complete supporting documents.
- Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, emerging technologies, codes (including NEC), and best practices in electrical construction estimating.
Qualifications
- Proven experience of at least 10 years in construction estimating, particularly in commercial electrical projects.
- Proficiency in using estimating software such as Accubid or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of construction management principles and practices and of electrical systems.
- Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to build relationships with vendors and subcontractors.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills to assess project requirements accurately.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
