Role and Responsibilities:

A Quality Control Inspector reviews work and products to verify that they have been performed according to contract requirements and are up to the specific state codes and standards in the industry. The inspector does this by performing visual inspections as well as testing for possible defects.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Regular and reliable attendance.

2. Prepared and on time for scheduled shift with proper PPE.

3. Responsible for Daily Shift validations.

4. Must possess a current and valid Driver License with clean driving record.

5. QA/QC inspection functions relating to fabrication, installation of piping, pressure vessels and structural steel.

6. Responsible for staying in compliance with all Safety Policies and Procedures.

7. Daily tracking/input into commercial software packages.

8. Document and report on quality progress during weekly project meetings.

9. Track and report on welder’s performance.

10. Responsible for working with company management to deliver required results.

11. Work to eliminate all defects in system to prevent rework.

12. Maintain project documents to allow completion of project turnover package.

13. Be actively involved in Behavioral Safety Process.

14. Perform tasks assigned by Quality Assurance Manager.

15. Develop knowledge of KSI PPM-SOPs and refer to the SOP Manual prior to each task.

16. Follow all KS Industries, LP safety, and customer policies and procedures.

17. Shall perform all physical and mental requirements listed.

Qualifications/ Skills

  • Ability to read and write in English
  • Ability to initiate Stop Work Authority when necessary
  • Ability to comprehend and communicate instructions in English
  • Ability to communicate with employees and various business partners in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Knowledge of technology (iPads, cellphones etc.).
  • Ability to read and understand engineered drawing packages
  • Ability to compare client specifications against various codes
  • Knowledge of all craft responsibilities, inspections and testing techniques and construction industry codes
  • Knowledge and understanding of NDE methods and required results
  • Knowledge on interpreting codes and mechanical drawings
  • Knowledge with welding process and inspections
  • Knowledge of electrode and filler materials

Education and Experience

Preferably 4 years of industry experience along with knowledge of tools

Pre-Employment Requirements:

All candidates must pass a pre employment physical examination, drug / alcohol screen, hold a valid driver’s license, pass a motor vehicle record check and be insurable through KSI’s insurance carrier, criminal background check and E-verify as a condition of successful consideration for employment.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and work in harsh weather for long periods of time. Depending on the phase of the job, all personnel are required to work in conditions where physical demands can consist of placing one’s body in various positions to inspect and to accomplish certain tasks such as:

  • Sitting
  • Standing
  • Squatting
  • Raising and Lowering objects from one level to another
  • Carrying objects, usually holding it in the hands or arms, or on the shoulder
  • Grasping objects with the use of fingers, palm and wrists to hold/and or manipulate objects (hammers, saws, pencils, pens etc,)
  • Pulling ie. Exerting force upon an object so that the object moves toward the force (includes jerking)
  • Pushing ie. Exerting force upon an object so that the object moves away from the force (includes slapping, striking, kicking and treadle actions)
  • Bending at the waist, stooping, working in a supine position, twisting seated or standing

Some of these physical requirements will range from seldom, frequent to constant depending on the task.

The work environment and working conditions described here are representative of those that are typical of the job and must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic). This position may require field visits. The locations vary from site to site. Work is physically demanding and requires the ability to concentrate well on the job at hand, in all types of weather. Majority of the work is construction-based work. Walking and working surface vary depending on the terrain, from flat to extreme slopes and frozen, wet, snowy and slippery conditions.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $27.00 per hour
