Our client is a family seeking a dedicated, passionate, and empathetic female who aspires to do more than just fill a role. This part-time position is located in Marion, Iowa, and includes weekly evening coverage on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, along with Friday afternoon shifts.
We are looking for someone who embodies a healthy lifestyle and positive mindset to join their awesome support team as an Independent Life Skills & Wellness Mentor. This individual will be committed to making a meaningful difference in the life of an adult female on the Autism Spectrum. The ideal candidate will not only have knowledge of healthy living but will truly live and promote this lifestyle, celebrating small wins and encouraging optimism and adaptability in every situation.
Coverage/Shifts Needed: Approximately 18 hours/week (some flexibility around the start and end hours listed)
- Monday: 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM
- Wednesday: 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM
- Thursday: 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM & 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM
- Friday: 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM & 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM
- Open to working an occasional weekend, maybe 1x/month, with needs varying month to month.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one mentorship: Offer personalized support, guidance, and strategies to promote personal growth and independence.
- Model and encourage healthy behaviors: Foster a positive environment by promoting nutrition, self-care, and overall wellness.
- Celebrate achievements: Acknowledge the client’s small wins and progress to build confidence and motivation.
- Support independent living skills: Assist the client in developing and maintaining essential skills for daily living.
- Assist with daily routines: Help with money management, housekeeping, personal hygiene, and meal planning.
- Engage in community activities: Attend community activities with the client, providing companionship and encouragement.
- Provide transportation: Offer rides as needed (mileage reimbursed) to facilitate participation in activities.
- Document progress: Complete required documentation, including progress notes and medical charting, to track development.
- Collaborate with the support team: Work closely with staff, supervisors, and family members to ensure the client’s success.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience with professional references required.
- Passion for wellness: A genuine commitment to healthy living and a positive mindset.
- Experience: Familiarity with autism or individuals with disabilities is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Gender requirement: Must be female, as specified by the family.
- Communication skills: Strong abilities in empathy, patience, and understanding.
- Adaptability: Ability to adjust to the client’s evolving needs and celebrate their unique journey.
- License/Background check: Valid Driver’s License and ability to pass a criminal and caregiver background check.
- Experience in mentoring: Previous experience in mentoring, coaching, or a related field is preferred but not essential.
