BASIC PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF POSITION
As the Senior Trade Compliance Analyst, you will play a crucial role ensuring a high standard of compliance with Customs laws and regulations. Ultimately, the position will assist with implementing procedures and ensuring operational Trade Compliance.
PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES: This position does the following in accordance with all applicable Federal, State and local laws / regulations and the Company’s policies, procedures and guidelines:
Serve as the primary support for Export Compliance processes.
Maintain and update import and export compliance manual.
Ensure the company is compliant with all new laws applicable to trade compliance; complete on-going training to stay abreast with trends & additional compliance opportunities.
Assist managing various projects relating to trade compliance.
Contribute to the creation of training, tools, resources, and intranet trade compliance content.
Access and review import/export data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
Conduct audits of business trade compliance programs and processes supporting import/export transactions.
Collaborate and manage with outside counsel and consultants.
Communicating with other affiliates and areas, including operations, purchasing, engineering, receiving, and accounting regarding import transactions.
Responsible for compliance activities to include, but not limited to classification of merchandise for both HTS, Schedule B and ECCN research of product to assist with such classifications.
Proactively request and provide import documentation needed to make entry in the United States such as mill certificates, non-reimbursement statements, EPA forms, etc.
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree with focus on Business, Finance, or International Trade preferred:
With a degree at least 5 years trade compliance experience in-house, as a customs broker, trade consultant or a combination thereof.
In lieu of a degree at least 7 years trade compliance experience in-house, as a customs broker, trade consultant or a combination thereof.
Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) required. Certifications such as Certified Customs Specialist (CCS)/Certified Export Specialist (CES) or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
Demonstrated experience managing inquiries, performing research, providing guidance, and working with a variety of businesses and personnel at all levels to creatively address and solve international compliance issues based on the needs of the business.
Interpreting import/export laws, rulings, regulations and translating them into reasonable business practices.
Preparing and filing required forms and submissions to US Customs and other government agencies.
Demonstrated knowledge of
Import entry process
Export declarations and process
Sanctioned party screening systems and process
Harmonized Tariff Schedule and ECCN classification
Free Trade Agreement qualification.
ACE portal
Customs broker selection and compliance oversight
Creating and presenting training.
Working with external service providers ensuring they provide records, reports, and system access.
High degree of proficiency with MS Office Suite, Gmail, and Internet applications; familiarly with ERP (SAP), Global Trade systems, and ACE preferred.
Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines, and reporting; strong business acumen, risk-based decision maker.
Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, and presentation skills; strong verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated collaborative skills and ability to work well within a team.
KNOWLEDGE:
TECHNOLOGY: Ability to learn and use Microsoft & Google Suite.
TRAVEL: 10%
