What are the responsibilities and job description for the National Air Logistics Director, Singapore & Malaysia position at Kuehne + Nagel AS?

You will be part of our Air Logistics team, adding your leadership expertise and management skills to the delivery of customer and operational excellence.

Your Role

Your key responsibility is on Customer Development, Commercial ownership of the Profit and Loss statement as well as the People Development. Supports the implementation of Corporate Strategy for business success and operations in line with the overall company strategy in the Airfreight business field. The core focus will be Business growth, customer Development and profitability.

Your Responsibilities

Business and Product Development

Actively own growth opportunities and partner with country and corporate stakeholders.
Act as Co-Pilot for selected GA and NA customers.
Make commercial decisions in and outside RFQs to win and retain business.
Acquire or support the acquisition of new business and support the account management.
Promote customer relations and develop the existing client base.
Localize the global Airfreight products to meet assigned market expectations and requirements.
Monitor market trends and competitor activity in order to identify new business opportunities (acquisition candidates, new services, business partners, etc.).
Support and cooperate in the determination of the global business strategy and execute / secure its implementation.
Engage in constant and extensive exchange with National Airfreight peer group on customer / trade development.
Engage in constant and extensive exchange with respective Cluster / National Development Team regarding Strategic Customer / Product Development, Pricing, including final responsibility on pricing / risk exposure on strategic RFQs. Support the business development process (tender analysis, solution design, costing, pricing and service offering).
Collaborate closely with KN Group Companies (Apex, Quick, Morgan Cargo) where applicable.
Collaborate closely with KN Perishable Management / PER Group companies, Business Development and Synergies, where applicable.

Profit Development

Carry the profit and loss responsibility for the assigned country.

Link financial performance to commercial actions.

Actively own P&L and customer profitability.

Manage RFC.

Create and monitor the annual budget, initiating corrective actions in case of deviations.

Operations Excellence

Support the National Team in Operation Management / Strategy as per RACI.

Ensure daily operational execution as customer delivery.

Support the Corporate Procurement and Carrier Management / Strategy.

Foster a continuous improvement culture.

Leadership and Human Resources

Lead national Air Logistics teams.

Grow talents and manage succession plans.

Lead and steer the organization in line with the KN Culture based on KN Roadmap, particularly KN experience, and be a role model of the aforementioned.

Ensure the identification and development of an internal talent pipeline for the organization.

Proactively support in regard to talents, people development and fostering of international exchange.

Your Skills and Experiences

Bachelor's / First University Degree in Business / Logistics / Engineering.

5-10 years of project management and international experience.

10 years of leadership experience, including managing direct and virtual teams.

Strong understanding and excellent knowledge of Air Logistics transportation.

Experience in direct customer contact and advanced interpersonal / intercultural skills.

Ability to influence, negotiate, and resolve conflicts at board levels.

Strong presentation, moderation, and business development skills.

Profound background in Air Logistics.

Energetic leadership personality, excellent communicator, and team player.

Highly proactive, fast-acting, supportive, and self-motivated.

Project-minded with strong project management and coordination skills.

Goal-oriented, able to work under pressure, open-minded, and willing to learn.

Analytical skills with excellent proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
