Responsibilities
- Strategic Safety Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive safety strategy aligned with company goals and OSHA standards. This includes proactive risk identification and mitigation, and continuous improvement initiatives based on data analysis and performance monitoring.
- Data-Driven Safety Management:
- Develop and maintain a robust safety performance tracking system, collecting and analyzing key metrics (e.g., incident rates, near misses, lost time injuries, etc.). Utilize data to identify trends, prioritize improvement areas, and measure the effectiveness of safety interventions.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor progress towards safety goals and objectives. Regularly report on safety performance metrics to senior management, highlighting successes, challenges, and areas for improvement.
- Utilize data analysis to identify leading indicators of potential safety issues and proactively implement preventive measures.
- Program Management & Implementation:
- Conduct regular safety inspections of job sites, equipment, and facilities.
- Develop and deliver engaging and effective safety training programs.
- Investigate incidents and accidents, conducting thorough root cause analyses and implementing effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain accurate safety records and documentation, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Manage safety budgets and resources efficiently.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor a team of safety technicians, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities. Foster a collaborative and high-performing safety team.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure full compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations, including OSHA standards. Maintain detailed records and documentation and proactively prepare for OSHA audits and inspections.
- Technology & Asset Management: Oversee the utilization of GPS tracking devices for vehicles and equipment, conducting regular inspections and investigations related to asset loss. Proficiently utilize company safety software for data management and reporting.
- Communication & Collaboration: Effectively communicate safety policies and procedures to all employees. Actively engage with employees at all levels to foster a safety-conscious culture. Maintain strong working relationships with management, employees, and external stakeholders (e.g., OSHA).
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Engineering, or a related field.
- OSHA 30 Certification (required) and OSHA DOL Card.
- Minimum of five years of experience in a construction or electrical environment, with supervisory experience preferred. Proven track record of improving safety metrics in a similar setting.
- Extensive knowledge of OSHA standards, electrical safety principles, and relevant safety regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement data-driven safety programs and track key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Proficiency in using safety management software and analyzing safety data.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely to various audiences.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a strong focus on proactive risk management and continuous improvement.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and travel to various job sites.
