What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recreation Assistant position at Kulanu Academy?
Summary: The Recreation Assistant will work with those served in community-based settings and other service provision sites to create an array of activities that further develop and enhance life skills and enable individuals’ served to participate in age-appropriate leisure activities.
Functions:
1. Planning and organizing activity programs under the supervision of a manager.
2. Setting up activity equipment such as tables, instruments, electronics, etc.
3. Maintaining and cleaning recreation equipment and facilities.
4. Assisting recreation staff in conducting sports, games, and events.
5. Assisting participants during activities.
6. Performing administrative tasks such as completing required documentation.
7. Ensuring participants' safety Ensure following of schedules, monitor engagement and satisfaction with said activities, and amend and continuously develop new activities in a cyclic quality enhancement method.
8. Conduct outreach activities such as calling, texting interested individuals and/or attending service fairs and representing the organization.
9. May assist in intake interviews
10. May assist in conducting Consumer Satisfaction Surveys.
11. Review and document results with QA/QI Compliance manager, and provide.
12. Act as agency liaison with community, referral, business and governmental partners.
13. Maintain confidentiality of records.
14. Comply with all agency policies and procedures and ensure all documentation meets requirements of local, state and federal guidelines
15. Ensure all reports are timely and distributed appropriately to all needed and required parties
16. Perform other duties as needed

3. Able to work both evenings and weekends in support of program services and meetings
4. Must be able to function independently and in a team environment.
5. Represent Kulanu Academy in professional manner at all times
Job Considerations:
1. Extensive travel potentially throughout the tristate region
2. Extensive walking and movement during shift hours. May go on hikes, engage in active leisure activities such as bowling, and other related leisure activities
3. May have to lift items up to 50 pounds.
4. This is an Hourly Position based upon service activities…shifts may range from 2 – 8 hours
Qualifications:
1. High School Diploma/GED preferred
2. Experience in a similar role preferred
3. Strong creativity and socialization skills
4. Must have a valid NYS Driver’s license and pass agency vehicle operations test. Must be able to drive a 15 passenger vehicle.
5. Knowledge of disability and impact on life skills a plus.
