Position Summary
The Director of the Kumon Learning Center will oversee daily operations, ensuring a high-quality learning experience while upholding Kumon’s structured methodology (Kumon methodology training provided). The Director will report to the center’s owner, relating to progress as needed. The Director will create tailored learning plans based on student assessments to promote success. The Director will manage staff, track student progress, engage with parents, and drive enrollment through community outreach and marketing. The Director will handle administrative and financial tasks, fostering a disciplined yet supportive environment where students develop confidence and independent study skills. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills are essential to succeed in this rewarding role.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the Kumon Center, ensuring a smooth and efficient learning environment.
- Manage student enrollment, progress tracking, and parent communication.
- Manage online assessments and parent orientations to encourage and secure enrollment.
- Maintain Kumon’s structured methodology and uphold high academic standards.
- Ensure the center complies with Kumon policies and franchise guidelines.
- Regular check-ins with the owner as needed.
- Manage student records, attendance, and financial transactions (tuition payments, billing).
- Order and organize learning materials, ensuring smooth center operations.
- Monitor and report key performance metrics to Kumon headquarters.
- Recruit, train, and manage assistants and graders to support center activities.
- Provide coaching and feedback to ensure consistency in grading and instruction.
- Foster a positive, student-focused culture among staff and students.
- Assess new students, conduct parent orientations, and explain the Kumon Method.
- Based on the initial assessments conducted for each student, create individualized plans that promote successful learning and life skills.
- Regularly communicate with parents about student progress, goals, and areas of improvement.
- Develop strategies to increase student enrollment and retention.
- Promote the center through local school partnerships, community events, and social media.
- Engage with prospective parents and answer inquiries about the program.
Qualifications & Skills
- Passion for education and commitment to Kumon’s mission.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business, or a related field preferred.
- Over three years of teaching experience from Pre-K through 8th grade.
- Prior teaching, education administration, or business management experience is a plus.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills to engage with parents and students.
- Experience in managing accounting systems; QuickBooks preferred.
- Experience with CRM software for record-keeping is a plus (Kumon CRM training provided).
- Bookkeeping and pay systems experience preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
