Pharmacy Technician - RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)
- Will provide a broad range of professional assistance related to inpatient and outpatient services.
- The Pharmacy Technician Interprets prescriptions written by physicians, ensures that the information is accurately understood.
- Compound medications are required.
- Centralized Intravenous Admixtures are also required.
- Maintaining stock levels, packaging medications into unit doses, and accurately labeling them to ensure proper identification.
- Preparing, labeling, and storing medications for both inpatients and outpatients, ensuring that medications are readily available when needed.
- Assisting in the selection, compounding, and labeling of IV solutions while adhering to sterile techniques and precise calculations.
- The Pharmacy Technician maintains the integrity of emergency crash carts stocked with necessary medications, ensuring that they are readily available in case of emergencies.
- Shall fulfill orders for drug supplies for wards and clinics, ensuring that sufficient stock is available to meet the needs of patients.
- Shall do inventory management, keeping track of stock levels and bulk IV solutions to prevent shortages or overages.
- The Pharmacy Technician assists pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications for patients, ensuring accuracy in dosage and adherence to instructions.
Pharmacy Technician - REQUIREMENTS
- Candidates must possess an active certification from either the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) or from the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (ExCPT).
- Must have a minimum of 2 years experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) as approved by the American Heart Association (AHA).
- College-level training experience is desirable, but not required.
- MUST be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
