What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mag Finishing Operator position at Kurz Transfer Products LP?
- Follow finishing orders to process all orders according to customer specifications.
- Convert the proper materials for each customer order, including color and label checks.
- Confirm roll widths before starting each order and verify roll lengths after conversion.
- Apply the correct machine settings and tension for each order.
- Pool material from stock and return excess material.
- Report any finishing order issues to the appropriate management.
- Process all information in SAP using the correct scrap codes.
- Manage offcuts according to the Precise Program.
- Collaborate with material handlers to minimize downtime.
- Ensure all outgoing customer rolls are in pristine condition.
- Half/full respirator required for cross-training.
- Promote a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
- Other duties as required.
Skills and Abilities
- Effective communication: Collaborate clearly with operators, sales, and team members to ensure smooth production flow.
- Math skills: Utilize basic math skills for tasks like interpreting production specifications
- Quality control: Possess a keen eye for detail to conduct thorough quality inspections, and identifying defective section
- Safety compliance: Demonstrate a commitment to safety of cutting tool, machine blade, slitting machine safety
- Physical abilities: Meet the physical demands of the role, including static pull strength of 84 lbs., push 60 lbs., lift 50 lbs. Standing for duration of shift, maintain finger dexterity
- Mobility: Maintain sustained focus for an extended period.
- Technical skills: Possess basic computer skills to operate production related software and maintain digital records.
- Continuous improvement: Maintain a process optimization mindset.
Experience and Education
- High School Diploma or GED
- Basic and intermediate math skills
- Manufacturing experience preferred
- Inspection and Slitting experience preferred
- SAP experience preferred
