Minneapolis VA Medical Center is one of the VA's four polytrauma medical centers to care for active-duty service members and Veterans with brain injuries, who are blind, or have had an amputation and maintains a 65,000 square foot center to care for Veterans with spinal cord injuries and disorders. Summary : Select and fit hearing aids for customers. Administer and interpret tests of hearing. Assess hearing instrument efficacy. Take ear impressions and prepare, design, and modify ear molds.
Responsibilities :
- Conduct comprehensive hearing evaluations using various diagnostic tools and tests to determine the extent and nature of clients' hearing loss.
- Recommend appropriate hearing aids based on clients' hearing test results, lifestyle, and budget.
- Fit, program, and adjust hearing aids to ensure optimal performance and comfort for clients.
- Provide detailed instructions to clients on how to properly use and maintain their hearing aids.
- Perform regular follow-ups with clients to monitor their progress and address any concerns or issues with their hearing aids.
- Stay updated with advancements in hearing aid technology and industry trends to provide clients with the most effective and innovative solutions.
- Maintain accurate client records, including test results, fitting details, and any necessary adjustments made to hearing aids.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as audiologists and otolaryngologists, to ensure comprehensive care for clients.
- Educate clients and their families on hearing loss prevention techniques, communication strategies, and available support resources.
- Adhere to ethical standards and professional guidelines set by relevant regulatory bodies.
