Job Summary
This is an Emergency Essential position that requires a skilled trades maintenance worker to perform maintenance and repair work in the mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and general building trades.
The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved HVAC and plumbing work. They will work independently to carry out routine maintenance and repair jobs, as well as more advanced work in regular trades maintenance and repair jobs, as assigned.
The days and hours for this position are Monday - Friday 0700-1500.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair air conditioning, heating, ventilation, and refrigeration systems.
- Replace air and water filters; makes minor repairs to heating, air conditioning and ventilating equipment.
- Accomplish repair and replacement of refrigeration and air conditioning components.
- Install, remove, or replace window air conditioning units.
- Maintain and repair plumbing systems in campus facilities and distribution system.
- Work includes opening blocked drains or clogged toilets; repairing leaky faucets, pipe leaks, water coolers, etc.
- Helping steamfitters to couple or disconnect pipe; cuts and threads pipe; lubricate water/sewage pumps.
- Install, maintain, and repair valves, traps, sinks, toilet bowls and other sanitary fixtures.
- Make temporary repairs on roof leaks.
Requirements
- Two (2) years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least HVAC and plumbing work.
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior work experience in the maintenance and repair field in a higher education environment or a facilities setting.
- Working for HVAC or Plumbing contractor within the past 4 years.
Value Added
- Experience working with a work order management system (CMMS).
- History of continued education or trades/technical course training.
- Handheld computer skills experience.
