This position is for a Part Time Foster Care Intake Coordinator working remotely approximately 25-30 hours per week with no benefits, every other week will require on-call duties in the evenings and weekends.

SUMMARY The Foster Care Intake Coordinator position is a full/part-time position that will serve as the liaison between DOHS and KVC for foster care placement. This position will maintain the Foster Care Intake Placement Log while managing placements to KVC foster homes. This position will be familiar with all KVC WV foster homes and with child needs to ensure first placement, best placement. This position will assist with other duties as assigned by the Director of Permanency.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Commits to organization’s mission.
  • Gives attention to detail and prioritizes and manages multiple projects simultaneously and follows through on issues in a timely manner.
  • Is the front line of response to DOHS and community partners who make foster care referrals for placement in KVC WV foster homes.
  • Takes all foster care referrals and works with Director of Permanency and Home Finders to ensure best placement in a timely manner.
  • Communicates with foster homes about potential placements and acts as liaison between DOHS and KVC foster homes.
  • Maintains records for all referrals received and the outcome of the referral.
  • This position does require some evening and weekend work due to the nature of how and when foster care referrals are received.
  • Maintains and updates Foster Care Intake Placement Log to ensure that all open beds and homes are being reported in real time.
  • Completes the Intake Referral form for each referral that is placed in a KVC foster home .
  • May complete Intake Communication form in CARE in a backup capacity for Home Finders.
  • Assists in entering newly referred foster children into the Chart Online system.
  • Has excellent organizational, verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Has a high level of proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office programs, especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook as well as internet research.
  • Has positive, outgoing, and personable demeanor and is able to relate well with diverse populations and age groups.

• Uses discretion and maintains confidentiality. • Works well under pressure to tight deadlines and coordinates the input of others in these circumstances.

  • Attend all required meetings and trainings.
  • Provide support to Home Finders and other Permanency staff as directed by supervisor.
  • Other duties or tasks as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This job has no supervisory responsibilities at this time.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.

REASONING ABILITY Ability to interpret and apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must have valid driver’s license and auto insurance.
