Job Summary
The Process Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of Educational processes related to Special Education Laws.
Major Duties:
- Coordinates and facilitates the planning and execution of the Individual Education Plan (IEP) and Section 504 process for students as defined by special education law and in coordination with individual school district practices *
- Acts as legally required school administrator at all IEP meetings *
- Manages all Due Process and legal issues relative to the IEP process and represents Great Circle in all due process cases *
- Coordinates with student’s special education team to ensure all documents are completed in an accurate (compliance with federal and state laws) and in timely manner prior to IEP meeting *
- Establish and maintain effective communication with all staff members and outside agencies personnel
- Develop, provide and promote regular in-service training to special education teachers regarding special education procedures (special education laws) *
- Serve as a resource person concerning Special Education process, evaluation tools and diagnoses for teachers and other school personnel
- Responsible for managing the relationships with referring districts in collaboration with other administrators
- In conjunction with the Principal; evaluates the work and performance of special education staff assigned to schools
- Responsible for continually updating teachers and administrators regarding all legal (laws and judicial changes) requirements governing special education.
- Achieves agreed upon job outcomes/goals
Education: Master’s degree in Education
Licensure/Certification: Special Education Teacher Certification
Qualifications:.
- Strong understanding of Special Education Law (IDEA), 504 Plans and Due Process requirements
- Strong customer service focus
- Excellent time management
- Excellent oral and written communication
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, email applications, and multiple educational record programs (Power IEP, SIS)
- Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality in all transactions and communications
Experience:
- Minimum of five (5) years teaching experience in special education
Preferred Experience/Skills:
- Certification in Education Administration
- Experience working with children and families in a trauma informed environment
