Job Summary
The Substance abuse Counselor is a school-based position designed to provide critical interventions to students that are facing challenges with substance use. The position focuses on prevention and response to behaviors that may induce substance use in adolescents.
Education: Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling or related field
Licensure/Certification: Credentials or license as a Substance Use Disorder/Addiction Counselor issued by a credentialing authority recognized by the Missouri Substance Abuse Professional Credentialing Board
Qualifications:
Possesses a current, valid MO driver's license and meets the KVC requirements for driver's insurance
Strong communication, interpersonal, and computer skills
Demonstrated ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language proficiently
Ability to use independent judgment and manage confidential information
Ability to operate in a challenging, ever-changing, multidisciplinary team environment
Excellent interpersonal skills Self-motivated, organized and disciplined
Experience:
Two (2) to four (4) years' experience in the substance use field
Two (2) to four (4) years' experience providing services to youth
Experience facilitating group sessions and trainings Experience working with at-risk student population
Experience working as part of an interdisciplinary team Experience in treatment planning and service documentation
Experience working with students that present with behavioral challenges Preferred
Experience/Skills:
Missouri Licensure - Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor (PLPC), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Certified Reciprocal Alcohol & Drug Counselor (CRADC)
Must be 21 years old to apply
