Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Supervisor to lead our team in a dynamic environment. The Orchard Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations within assigned orchard blocks, ensuring tree health, fruit quality, and efficient workforce management. This role includes supervising employees, maintaining safety and training standards, and executing orchard management practices to optimize productivity. This role will be seasonal (March- Mid-November). In the months of Mid-November to February (Slower season) the orchard supervisor will help other supervisors oversee daily operations.
Responsibilities
· Select and assign irrigators and workers to complete tasks efficiently.
· Supervise crews for pruning, thinning, and other orchard tasks.
· Enforce company policies, maintain disciplinary records, and ensure compliance.
· Train and develop employees within assigned areas.
· Maintain accurate records of employee hours and provide payroll information as needed.
· Ensure crews have access to clean and stocked portable facilities and drinking water.
· Estimate and manage labor needs to complete tasks within budget.
Supervise and direct harvest crews to ensure quality and production standards.
· Oversee and manage between 115 to 250 acres of cherry, apple, and pear orchards.
· Coordinate with the Ranch Manager to implement fertilizer and compost programs.
· Perform and document orchard maintenance, including weed control, mowing, and general upkeep.
· Execute and document irrigation plans, including system repairs as needed.
· Prepare land for new plantings when necessary.
· Support and supervise harvest crews, assisting with production estimates and ensuring the harvest of high-quality products.
· Enforce and document SQF food safety regulations within assigned blocks.
· Maintain orchard blocks free of trash and hazards.
· Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, including First Aid/CPR protocols.
Qualifications
- Previous supervisory experience in a related field is preferred.
- Knowledge of tree fruit production (apples, pears, cherries) and orchard management.
- Experience in agricultural record-keeping preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Basic math skills for effective inventory management.
- Proficiency in Picktrace, Ceres, Phytech, GoCanvas forms and Outlook.
- Strong leadership, training, and workforce management abilities.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) with good verbal and written communication skills.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
· Frequent standing, walking, and occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds.
· Regular use of mobile devices.
· Work hours: Monday-Friday, with extended hours required during the high season.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Knowledge of Integrated Pest Management (IPM), including pest, disease, and nutritional issue identification.
· Positive attitude, adaptability, and a commitment to agricultural operations.
Certifications and Licensing:
- Valid Washington State Driver’s License.
- WSDA Private Applicator License (preferred).
- First Aid/CPR Certification (can be obtained within the first 3 months).
