ABOUT THE JOB :

Job Title : Machinery Maintenance Technician

Classification : Full-time, Hourly Non-Exempt

Location : Kymera - Thermal Spray Solutions (TSS), Chesapeake, VA

Reports To : Production Manager

Job Overview

The Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in maintaining and troubleshooting equipment in a small machine shop environment. This hands-on role requires strong problem-solving skills to ensure efficient operation of equipment, including 480 / 220 V and 115 V electrical systems, plumbing , and mechanical components. Candidates should have 5–10 years of experience in facilities and equipment maintenance, with a focus on mechanical and electrical systems. Additional responsibilities include managing maintenance contractors, performing small building maintenance tasks (training provided), managing the preventive maintenance program and ensuring compliance with safety protocols, including lockout / tagout procedures.

Responsibilities

Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting :

• Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair industrial equipment while ensuring power is safely off during maintenance.
• Conduct regular inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs to minimize downtime.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues, including checking equipment resistance.
• Calibrate tools and equipment as needed.
• Understand the operation and maintain of heavy-duty machining tools, such as lathes, mills, and grinders.
