L-C Valley Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit organization. We organize volunteers to build houses which we sell to families with affordable mortgages. The Truck Driver / Customer Service Representative plays a vital role in providing an extraordinary experience for staff, donors, volunteers and customers. PURPOSEOF POSITION:
To safely load and unload donated items into and out of Habitat Store trucks and donors’ and customers’ homes and businesses. To contribute as a member of the team providing services for the Habitat Store, such as arranging and pricing merchandise and serving customers. As a store associate, you will receive cross-training to perform various tasks and responsibilities in the daily operations of the Habitat Store. This is the perfect opportunity for thatexceptional person who is not afraid to roll up his or her sleeves and get thejob done.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Perform daily vehicle inspections, keep vehiclesclean, and maintain an inspection logbook.
· Coordinate scheduling of donation pickups anddeliveries
· Inspect donations and explain to donors on thephone and in person which products we can accept
· Safely drive Habitat for Humanity vehicles topick up and deliver donated goods
· Load and unload all donated materials
· Communicate with Store Manager regarding incoming donations
· Occasionally supervise volunteers, ensuring they have a meaningfulvolunteer experience
· Maintain an effective working relationship with Habitat forHumanity staff, volunteers, homeowners and store customers
· Other Duties as assigned by the Store Manager to assist otherstaff, donors and customers
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS ANDABILITIES:
· Knowledge and experience in retail sales, greeting customers anddonors
· Strong written and oral communication skills
· Courteous and willing to learn new job and interpersonal skills
· Strong commitment to safety
· Able to drive, back up and park a loaded box truck up to 40’ feetin length
· Excellent driving safety record
· Work in a retail and/or warehouse environment
· Ability to safely lift 75 pounds consistently using safe liftingand materials handling techniques
· Work may require climbing ladders, considerable standing, bending,kneeling, and reaching in awkward and tiring positions.
· At least 12 months work experience
· At least 21 years old
· Must pass criminal background check, drug andalcohol tests, sexual offender check and medical exam
· Willing to have a flexible schedule and able towork the hours needed to meet the store’s needs
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS ANDABILITIES:
· Problem solver
· Experience working with customers and volunteers
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS:
· Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
· CDL not required
OTHER:
· Typical work schedule is Tuesday through Saturday between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. (Fridays to 7 p.m.)
