- Lead the execution of the Program Management Process (PMP) for the assigned projects in accordance with the L&L procedures. This includes assuring the gate reviews are held and documented.
- The PM will develop program plans including Pert Charts, Gantt Charts, Open Issues Logs, Budgets and Spending Plans, and Risk Mitigations Plans.
- The PM will lead and manage all changes to program scope after tooling intent designs are established. This includes developing quotes, delivering them to the customer (or coordinating with the Account Manager to submit).
- As leader of the development team, the Program Manager is the primary point of contact for all internal and external communication regarding program status. The PM will be responsible for keeping status reports and program documentation current, and for presenting to management and customers.
- As the primary point of contact with our customers during the project phase (after initial tooling intent designs are established), the PM has a significant impact on our customer’s perception of L&L. To maintain the highest level of satisfaction, in addition to delivering products that perform as promised, when promised, the PM must always be attentive, responsive, courteous, and professional.
- As part of the responsibility of assuring the program progresses according to schedule, the PM will work directly with vendors, customers, and managers of internal resources. The PM will secure commitments and follow up to verify progress. If the PM is not able to resolve issues, he/she is responsible to escalate to senior management for resolution.
- As required by the customer, the PM may need to access customer-specific Portals to provide updates to key milestone events, as well as completing questionnaires regarding program status.
- The PM will facilitate problem solving sessions as needed to assure issues are being addressed in a systematic and timely manner.
- The PM must be willing to travel, as required, to support the global customer.
- The PM will review and approve all engineering changes.
- The PM will initiate or approve all program related expenditures.
- The PM will provide personal representation at customer meetings and builds as appropriate.
- The PM may also be assigned to lead projects through the Product Development Process (PDP). In those cases, the responsibilities will be to lead the team through the PDP with the same basic deliverables as the PMP; developing and maintaining Pert Charts, Gantt Charts, Open Issues Logs, Budgets and assuring the PDP gate review process is followed.
- The PM is a key participant in optimizing the cross-functional design review process.
- Assist in communicating company policy and any changes of the policy
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Science, or equivalent years of experience
- Minimum seven years of experience as a Program Manager or Design Release Engineer
- Experience including development and production of components used in the automotive industry. Ideally including manufacturing processes of injection molding, metal forming and assembly
