Quality Control Inspector
L & N Metal Works is a family-owned full-service fabrication facility located in Gillett, WI. Our 20,000 square foot facility is equipped with advanced fabrication equipment including a tube laser, 2 fiber plate lasers, a 13’ press brake, tube bending equipment, a laser welder, and a robotic welder. In addition to laser cutting and forming of custom production parts, L & N Metal Works fabricates metal railings, stair framing, structural steel, cat walks, ladders, decorative steel, and other metal projects.
Role Description
The Quality Control Inspector position is a full-time on-site role in Gillett WI. The Quality Control Inspector ensures products meet quality standards by inspecting materials, products, and processes, identifying defects, and documenting findings to improve production processes.
Responsibilities
- Inspect materials, parts, and finished products for defects and compliance with specifications.
- Conduct tests, measurements, and visual inspections to ensure tolerances and quality standards are met.
- Use various tools and equipment, such as calipers, gauges, and micrometers, to measure and inspect products.
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, noting any deviations from established standards.
- Prepare and submit inspection reports, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions.
- Identify potential quality issues and recommend improvements to production processes.
- Collaborate with production teams to implement and monitor corrective actions.
- Ensure adherence to internal and industry quality standards and regulations.
- Understand and apply relevant quality control procedures and protocols.
- Communicate findings and recommendations to management and other team members.
- Ensure compliance with plant safety standards
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Experience in quality inspection of metal fabrication and machined parts, or extensive experience as a quality-responsible technician
- High School diploma or equivalency required
- Technical degree or trade program coursework is a plus
- Knowledge of raw materials used (material grade, thickness, etc.)
- Comfortable with hand measuring tools: calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel & Word
- Ability to interpret shop drawings and job specifications.
- Ability to work independently
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong math and analytical skills
- Detail oriented & organized
- Ability to multitask, prioritize and adapt to shifting priorities
- Time management skills & initiative
- Must have good work history and attendance record
