JOB RESPONSIBILITIES & REQUIREMENTS
Responsibilities:
- Transportation: Safely transport children to and from home and public school.
- Community Relations: Relate effectively to children and parents across various socio-economic levels within the community.
- Positive Interaction: Greet each child with a smile in the morning and ensure a positive return in the afternoon.
- Communication: Notify the bus girl or teacher when picking up or dropping off a child and relay any messages from parents.
- Safety and Security: Ensure children are received only by authorized individuals, fasten children securely using appropriate safety measures, and adhere to MA Child Passenger Safety Laws.
- Child Welfare: Prioritize the health, safety, and welfare of the children at all times.
- Reporting: Report any unusual incidents or concerns related to child welfare to the program director.
- Professional Conduct: Avoid negative remarks about children or parents, and never give a child to an intoxicated person.
- Hygiene and Care: Assist with changing car/booster seats, fastening coats on cold days, and tidying up children as needed.
- Medication Handling: Receive and secure any medicine, ensuring proper authorization from parents.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Keep the exterior and interior of the vehicle, including car seats, in neat and acceptable condition.
- Training and Compliance: Attend all necessary training for transportation personnel, maintain updated first aid and CPR training, and obey all traffic laws.
- Vehicle Usage: Use the Little People's College vehicle only for LPC business.
- Documentation: Maintain an updated Driver Information Form and thoroughly check the vehicle after each run.
- Communication with Office: Call the office after the last run in the morning and afternoon to notify central that the vehicle is empty.
- Adherence to Standards: Perform any other duty necessary to ensure LPC standards are being met.
- Professional Image: Drive carefully, obey traffic laws, and maintain outstanding behavior to represent "Little People's College" positively.
Requirements:
- Commercial Driver’s License, and School Bus Driver’s Certificate (meeting MA requirements).
- Positive demeanor and excellent communication skills.
- Ability to relate to children and parents from diverse backgrounds.
- Updated first aid and CPR training.
- Clean driving record.
