JOB RESPONSIBILITIES & REQUIREMENTS
Responsibilities:
- Assist the driver in maintaining discipline on the school bus; monitor and assist students while the bus is in operation.
- Consult with and assist bus driver in documentation of student information, recordkeeping and completing routes.
- Assuring seat belts, harnesses are secured as required.
- Assist parents and school personnel with safe loading and unloading of students.
- Communicate with classroom aides, teachers, directors, and parents concerning student background, medical problems and behavior as appropriate.
- Maintain current knowledge of Emergency Evacuation procedures.
- Assure responsible adult meets students leaving the bus.
- Attend in-service meetings and training courses as assigned.
- Maintain regular attendance.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Requirements:
- Excellent communication skills with teachers, children, parents and other childcare workers.
- Ability to be patient and understanding when working with children and interacting with parents.
- Knowledge of transportation and childcare principles and procedures.
- Obtain certification in CPR and First Aide within 6 month of employment; must be maintained by obtaining recertification as necessary.
- Ability to communicate with young children at their level.
