Position Summary: Under the general supervision of the Department Director, the Residential Services Assistant Director assists the director in the administration of the operations and activities of the residential services, housing program and staff as assigned. Acts on behalf of Residential Services Director in their absence.
Hours: Full-time as assigned, regularly outside of 9 am to 5 pm, on call, weekends and overnights are required, works staggered with Director, must be flexible

Essential Duties:
Client Services:
- Assists the director in responding to 24 hour 7 days a week Crisis Hotline by providing crisis counseling to current clients and those seeking services requesting information, support and/or referral directly or through delegation.
- Responds to complex situations involving client or building emergencies and weather-related events.
- Provides direct services, support and assistance to residents living in emergency shelter and transitional housing, acts as Case Manager with caseload of 5 to 15 clients.
- Transports residents to and from appointments, school and other approved destinations.
- Mediates and uses appropriate trauma-informed conflict resolution techniques with clients and staff.
- Provides all services in an empathic manner, providing guidance, motivation and encouragement using a trauma informed service delivery model.
Supervision and Staffing:
- Manages and supervises a team of Residential Advocates and all Kitchen staff and other staff assigned.
- Approves selection of assigned staff, providing required supervision, writes and conducts performance evaluations on direct reports.
- Creates and maintains work schedule for kitchen personnel and ensures adequate coverage at meal times.
- Regularly provides direction to all other staff in the absence of the director.
- Assists director in providing adequate staffing coverage 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
- Ensures necessary and mandatory training of assigned staff and volunteers is provided and completed in a timely manner.
Operations and Administration:
- Assists Director in ensuring continual supervision of all residential operations.
- Participates in preparation of rooms and dorms, intake and out-processing residents, and ongoing support services and resources for residents.
- Oversees kitchen equipment, supplies and food inventory and manages purchase of food and kitchen supplies needed; distribution of food, clothing and personal items for residents in shelter.
- Assists Director in ensuring an effective housing program.
- Manages all grant funding and reports as assigned by director.
- Ensures timely and ongoing services to clients seeking or residing in transitional housing and ensures clients’ housing goals are maintained and updated as needed.
- Maintains accurate and complete case files and monitors and reviews case files of staff assigned for accuracy and in compliance with funder requirements.
- Develops and maintains positive relationships with landlords, works collaboratively with landlords and clients living in transitional housing.
- Assists the director in ongoing reviews of safety programs and ensuring staff are following all established safety policies and procedures.
- Provides guidance and training on survivor services as assigned by director.
- Creates and maintains an on-call schedule to cover crisis walk-ins, in the absence of the director.
- As assigned, is responsible for ensuring crisis coverage, safety plans and educating clients of Crime Victim Compensation.
- Networks with and provides support to community providers, law enforcement school personnel and the public on behalf of domestic violence victims in project areas.
- Compiles data and completes all required documentation in a timely manner, to include monthly and quarterly reports.
- Completes all required documentation and reporting in a timely manner, as required by funders, La Casa Inc. agency administration, federal, state and local legislation. Documentation and reporting must be completed with a high level of ethical integrity.
- Works collaboratively with all departments and the community.
Training:
- Attends staff meetings and in-service trainings.
- Stays abreast of best practices for residential shelters and when working with victims of domestic violence and their children and ensure services reflect those practices.
- Ongoing professional development including keeping abreast of recent trends and developments regarding domestic violence and advocacy as they pertain to the clients served by La Casa.
- Attends seminars and trainings approved by Residential Services Director.
Additional Duties:
- Ability to drive agency vehicle.

Qualifications:
· Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field
· Experience: A minimum of two (2) years full-time experience in residential shelter operations including two (2) years full-time experience in supervision and directing the work of others.
· Substitution of education/experience: Is allowed on a one for one year basis.
· Language: Bilingual in Spanish/English highly desirable.
· Licenses/Certifications: Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
· Insurance Requirements: Must be at least 25 years of age per agency driving policy.
· Other: Post-offer drug/alcohol screen, TB test and background check.
· Warm, empathic, and non-judgmental with demonstrated ability to maintain healthy boundaries with clients and staff.
