Saint Monica Preparatory (SMPREP) is a parish, coeducational TK-12 day school, and is a ministry of St. Monica Catholic Community in the heart of Santa Monica. SMPREP has an over 90-year history of educating students for a life of faithful citizenship.
JOB OVERVIEW
The Experiential Learning and Special Events Specialist serves as a key member of the SMPREP TK-12 administrative team, supporting school leaders in planning and executing the experiential education program and other special events. The position is a full-time role with benefits including vacation, paid holidays, healthcare insurance, a pension plan, and a generous tuition remission for children attending our school. This position calls for a passionate, energetic individual who is comfortable working in a dynamic collaborative environment. The key to success in this role will be strong organizational, event planning, and problem-solving skills, as well as technical proficiency. This position reports primarily to the principals of the school.
Responsibilities
- Plan and manage events to increase student exposure to experiential learning opportunities within a TK-12 school model.
- Assist with the planning and managing of school community building and fundraising events.
- Collaborate with partner schools to plan and execute exchange programs.
- Manage logistics including budgeting, ordering, event communications (internal and external), recruitment, and volunteer management prior to and during the event.
- Collaborate with partner organizations to create and implement program agreements that support the growth of our students and ensure the ongoing success of the program.
- Collaborate with the Director of Marketing to promote the Experiential Learning program and other special events.
- Provide support and technical assistance to involved partners.
- Enhance parent involvement by working with the administration, guidance and teaching staff, and the Mariner Parents Association.
- Other duties as needed and requested.
