Job Title: Building Maintenance Manager
Location: La Crosse Country Club, Onalaska, WI
Reports to: General Manager
Position Overview: La Crosse Country Club is seeking a motivated and experienced Building Maintenance Manager to oversee and maintain the integrity of our entire facility, including our pool and tennis facilities. The successful candidate will ensure that all aspects of the Club’s infrastructure—across both indoor and outdoor spaces—are fully operational, well-maintained, and meet safety standards. This position involves managing daily operations, coordinating repairs and maintenance, and working closely with staff to create a safe and welcoming environment for all members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Building Maintenance: Oversee daily operations of the facility, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical, and structural maintenance. Ensure all systems and equipment are functioning properly across the clubhouse, pool area, and tennis courts.
- Pool Maintenance: Manage and maintain the Club’s pool area, ensuring the pool is clean, well-maintained, and the water chemistry is consistently tested and adjusted. Monitor pool equipment and systems, including pumps and filtration systems, to ensure they are operating efficiently. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations for pool use.
- Tennis Facility Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance of the tennis courts, including surface upkeep, lighting systems, and fencing. Ensure the courts are kept in optimal condition for member use and manage seasonal repairs or upgrades.
- Preventative Maintenance: Develop and implement a proactive preventative maintenance program for all building and recreational facilities, including the clubhouse, pool, and tennis courts. Avoid unscheduled breakdowns and improve the lifespan of equipment and systems.
- Repairs & Upgrades: Supervise and perform minor and major repairs to the building’s systems, structures, pool area, and tennis courts. Recommend and implement upgrades to enhance the functionality, safety, or appearance of the facility and its amenities.
- Vendor Management: Manage external contractors for specialized services, including pool maintenance, landscaping, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and janitorial services. Ensure that vendors adhere to scheduled work timelines and quality standards.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure all building and recreational operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including safety standards and environmental guidelines. This includes fire protection, pool safety, and tennis court maintenance. Conduct regular safety inspections of all facilities.
- Inventory & Budget Management: Oversee inventory of building and facility supplies, including pool chemicals, tennis equipment, and maintenance tools. Maintain budgetary control for building and recreational maintenance-related expenditures and provide regular reports to management.
- Team Supervision: Supervise and train building and maintenance staff. Provide leadership and direction in maintaining the facilities, ensuring a clean and safe environment across all areas of the Club.
- Emergency Response: Act as the point of contact for emergency repairs and maintenance, responding promptly to urgent issues that may arise, particularly in high-use areas such as the pool and tennis courts.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or trade certification preferred.
- 5 years of experience in building maintenance or facility management, preferably in a hospitality, country club, or recreational facility setting - preferred but not required.
- Strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, pool maintenance, and tennis facility upkeep.
- Proven ability to manage budgets, contracts, and vendor relationships.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to lead a team of maintenance professionals.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with Club members and staff.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to perform manual labor and work in various weather conditions.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and climb ladders for extended periods.
- Comfort with poolside and outdoor work environments.
