Job Summary:
Nonni’s Foods LLC, La Dolce Vita, is the leading domestic baker and marketer of premium branded biscotti. We market our biscotti under the Nonni’s brand name; the company bakes high quality products that are sold within the premium cookie category. The Operations Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing production operations and will coordinate the activities of workers. Additionally, this position is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the production process from raw material input to final product packaging on a manufacturing shift. Ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the manufactured goods within the production workers. The Operations Supervisor will report directly to the Production Manager.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Understand and use company GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures
- Recognize and implement company HACCP programs and CCPs (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point)
- Open and/or Close Plant appropriately
- Review and plan daily schedule of all production.
- Conduct Shift Start Staff Meetings, product evaluations, and any other pertinent meetings.
- Monitoring of Production Output – notify appropriate personnel for corrective action if necessary.
- Notify appropriate manager of “tools and equipment” needing repair.
- Submit maintenance work requests.
- Report, investigate and complete appropriate documentation within 24 hours of any accidents, property damage and near misses.
- Accomplish manufacturing staff results by communicating job expectations: planning, monitoring and appraising job results.
- Maintains workflow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems.
- Monitor quality, record yield for shift, make corrections to waste points.
- Corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
- Responsible for coaching, counseling and disciplining employees while initiating, coordinating and enforcing systems, policies and procedures.
- Perform miscellaneous tasks as requested by management.
- Works with management to root cause and continuously develop more efficient processes.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 3 years of supervisory experience preferred
- Intellectual curiosity, with the ability to solve problems and identify opportunities for improvement
- Ability to achieve production targets
- Ability to lead and motivate employees
- Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) strongly preferred
Working conditions
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, for entire shift. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 45 pounds.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Facility may incur extreme temperature variation and other hazards as incurred in the food manufacturing and packaging process. May be exposed to loud noise from moving forklifts and production equipment.
