Experienced Delphi Developer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Software Developer to lead the modernization effort of our enterprise desktop application, originally written in Delphi 7 and MSSQL. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in bringing our legacy software up from Delphi 7, and 10 Seattle to the current version of Delphi 12 Athens and updating 3rd party controls while ensuring seamless integration with modern SQL databases and optimizing our network and enterprise coding practices. The candidate should possess a strong background in Delphi development dating back to the early 2000s and up-to-date knowledge of SQL and enterprise coding for retail point-of-sale applications.

Responsibilities:

Delphi Application Modernization: Lead the migration of our Delphi 7, and 10 Seattle to the current version of Delphi 12 Athens, ensuring compatibility and improved performance.

Database Integration: Enhance and optimize the application's interaction with MSSQL databases and explore the potential for adopting modern database technologies where appropriate.

Code Refactoring: Review and refactor legacy codebase to adhere to modern coding standards, practices, and design patterns. Ensure code maintainability and extensibility.

Integration with Colocation Servers: Facilitate seamless data replication and synchronization between in-store servers and central colocation servers to ensure real-time data consistency.

Retail Point of Sale Expertise: Leverage your expertise in retail point of sale application development to enhance the functionality, reliability, and scalability of our software.

Development Stack Mastery: Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in Delphi and Microsoft development stacks. Apply best practices and contemporary coding methodologies.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• Extensive experience with legacy Delphi development, dating back to the early 2000s, including proficiency with current Delphi releases.
• Strong SQL database skills, with a deep understanding of database design, optimization, and query performance.
• Proven track record in enterprise application development, particularly in retail point of sale systems.
• Familiarity with modern coding styles, design patterns, and development methodologies within the Delphi and Microsoft development stacks.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Strong communication skills to effectively convey technical concepts and solutions to non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to adapt to changing technologies and industry trends.
