Job Summary
Provides technical land-related information to the public; provides County staff with answers to technical land-related questions; performs data creation and data editing for County GIS projects.

Interacts with surveyors, appraisers, attorneys, real estate personnel, right of way agents, oil and gas companies personnel, title companies personnel, and others regarding tax maps, legal descriptions, title searches, easements, survey plats, parcel ownership, etc.
Interacts with County Assessor's staff, Planning Department staff, Treasurer's staff, Clerk's staff, Building Department staff, Road and Bridge Department staff, County administration staff and others regarding tax maps, legal descriptions, title searches, easements, survey plats, parcel ownership, etc.
Uses GIS applications to make custom maps for County staff in support of County projects.
Creates GIS data by digitizing or scanning; edits and creates GIS data by keyboard entry; checks newly plotted maps for accuracy and consistency.
Interacts with GIS Manager with regard to GIS applications and products.
Notifies Planning Department of potential illegal land subdivisions and boundary adjustments.
Checks own work for accuracy and completeness.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Regular and predictable attendance is required.

Minimum Qualifications Required
Education and Experience :
One year certificate from college or technical school; and,
Two years of progressively responsible related experience; or,
Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of :
Computer applications related to the work.
Arc / Info or ArcView software desired.
Mapping conventions, principles and legal descriptions.
Deed language and conventions.
Surveying principles.
Skill in :
Using tact, discretion, initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines.
Researching, compiling, and summarizing a variety of informational and statistical data and materials.
Using mathematics.
Communicating clearly and effectively, orally and in writing.
Mental and Physical Abilities :
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of individuals.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and so forth.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is frequently required to walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, speak and hear, and lift and / or move up to 10 pounds.
While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is occasionally required to lift and / or move up to 25 pounds.
