Job Summary
La Plata Family Medicine is seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Medical Assistant (MA) to join our dedicated care team. In this role, you will support physicians and providers in delivering high-quality care across all ages—from infants to seniors—in a fast-paced, team-oriented family medicine clinic. You’ll handle both clinical and administrative tasks, playing a vital role in ensuring a smooth patient experience and efficient clinic workflow. Duties
- Room patients and collect vital signs, chief complaints, and medication histories.
- Document patient information accurately in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Assist providers during exams, procedures, and in-office testing (e.g., strep, flu, urinalysis).
- Administer immunizations and medications under provider direction.
- Coordinate lab services with the onsite phlebotomist to ensure timely processing.
- Manage prescription refill requests and assist with prior authorizations per clinic protocols.
- Provide patient education and support for managing chronic conditions.
- Prepare and restock exam rooms to maintain clinical readiness.
- Collaborate with front desk and care teams to support smooth patient flow.
- Follow HIPAA, OSHA, and infection control standards while maintaining professional conduct.
Qualifications-Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced clinical setting.
- Compassionate, patient-focused approach with a commitment to quality care.
Qualifications-Preferred:
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or equivalent credential.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems (e.g., Athenahealth).
- Familiarity with medical terminology and routine clinical workflows.
