The general function of a Sanitation Supervisor is to supervise and coordinate the Sanitation Department personnel and ensure that cleaning assignments are completed. Investigate and resolve cleaning discrepancies through self-audits of the production plant. Work as a team member with other department supervisors/managers to enforce the Food Safety Program and coordinate with the QC Manager that corrective actions regarding sanitation are accomplished to ensure that the highest quality product is being provided to our customers.
Position Responsibilities :
- Supervise sanitation personnel on how to properly clean machinery and accessories.
- Coordinate Schedules with staff to ensure productivity.
- Promote a safe working environment for the employees.
- Perform accident investigation when necessary.
- Assigns cleaning tasks to sanitation personnel and documents all completed work on the “Master Sanitation Sheet”.
- Create and maintain sanitation KPI’s.
- Coordinate all training for area and /or department.
- Develop and manage a training matrix for the department.
- Assist in the development of employees constantly.
- Ability to resolve problems as they occur within the department
- Must be able to communicate with other departments and Managers regarding issues that occur from shift to shift.
- Bring forth new ideas regarding Sanitation.
- Promote company policy and philosophy.
- Keep track of inventory of chemicals on hand, monitor chemical usage, and order chemicals as needed. Request MSDS with all chemicals ordered.
- Create and manage POs and place orders with vendors and suppliers.
- Coordinate compactor and used oil pick-ups.
- Implement and document disciplinary action of department personnel.
- Supervise employee cleaning assignments, inspect areas to ensure cleaning assignments have been completed, and give cleaning recommendations if deficiencies are found.
- Review all department paperwork and forms.
- Create and implement SOPs.
- Review timecards for accuracy & turn in all employee attendance & punctuality reports to the Human Resource Dept.
- Review employee time off requests and ensure that time off requests are following company guidelines.
- Onboard new hires effectively and ensure all areas of onboarding have been covered.
- Perform employee evaluations annually
- May perform other tasks as needed.
Requirements
- Minimum 4 year of supervisory experience in sanitation.
- 1 year of previous production experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Bi-lingual Spanish/English is required
- Basic reading and writing skills
- Satisfactory Math Skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Knowledge of Safety and Labor Laws
- Must be able to generate company documents as well as maintain all existing documents
- Must be able to rotate shifts if required and back up co-workers when needed, including weekends.
- Some knowledge of manufacturing equipment
- Must have Food Safety experience and sanitation standards pertaining to food manufacturing.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office is preferred

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to:
- Stand and walk most of the day
- Walk on uneven ground and wet or slippery floors
- Twisting, turning, bending, kneeling, and stooping on a frequent basis
- May be required to lift up to 50 lbs. when needed
- Exposure to spices (allergens) including but not limited to soy and wheat
- Exposure to high noise levels and high heat environment
- PPE - Slip-resistant boots, hair and beard net, safety glasses, and ear plugs are required in the work areas, gloves are recommended
Schedule - 1st shift (6:00 am - 2:00 pm)
