Job Summary


La Salle Catholic College Preparatory is seeking an innovative and dynamic Director of Computer Science & Robotics to lead and expand our offerings in these fields. This position combines teaching, leadership, and program development to cultivate student curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving skills in these specific STEM disciplines. The director will teach three periods in the areas of computer science, game design, and robotics growing into a flipped classroom model and will serve as a resource and mentor for students. Additionally, the director will oversee at least two co-curricular teams / clubs (i.e. robotics). This individual will advocate for and be aware of best practices, innovation, and emerging trends. Expertise in the integration of artificial intelligence is preferred. This position collaborates with the technology department and reports directly to the principal.

Essential Duties

  • Develop and teach computer science and robotics electives using a flipped instruction model, creating flexibility in student scheduling
  • Establish and manage STEM-related competitive teams, with a particular focus on launching and coaching a robotics team
  • Stay up to date with emerging trends in AI, machine learning, and automation to ensure curriculum relevance
  • Collaborate with Director of Academic Resources and technology team on school wide technology initiatives and best practices
  • Foster teamwork, creativity, and leadership among students
  • Engage with parents, community members, and industry partners to support team activities and secure sponsorships when applicable
  • Develop partnerships with universities, industry leaders, and STEM organizations to provide students with real-world learning opportunities
  • Coordinate with administrators to align computer science and robotics initiatives with the school’s overall academic vision

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Engineering, STEM Education, or a related field
  • Teaching certification (preferred but not required)
  • Experience leading robotics or coding teams in a competitive setting is highly desirable.
  • Broad knowledge of instructional best practices
  • Preferred knowledge of the following platforms: Google Apps for Education, Schoology (or other LMS), Open AI and other artificial intelligence resources and platforms
  • Knowledge of current and popular educational technology tools

 

Technical Skills & Knowledge

  • Programming Languages: Python and additional exposure to multiple programming languages and paradigms such as Java, Javascript, R, C#, etc.
  • Robotics Platforms: various

·        AI & Machine Learning: Basic knowledge of AI/ML frameworks is a plus
