Biology Student Lab Prep Teaching Assistant (TA3) Sp’25 BIOL185L Medical Microbiology

Position Summary

In larger or complex laboratory courses, the Laboratory Preparation Teaching Assistant (TA3) helps the instructor and lab crew with preparation / set-up, restock, and take-down / clean-up of laboratory classes. In the context of Medical Microbiology wet labs, this includes performing MRT and MCT tasks of making specific media and maintaining / inoculating / distributing cultures. The foregoing includes proper cleaning of lab ware and returning it to the designated storage areas in the lab, lab prep areas or stockroom, and sterilizing / disposing BioHazard bags. The TA3 works with the instructor and the TA2 as part the course crew. TA3 applicants must have taken and passed the course they would prep for with a grade “B” or higher.

The course instructor is the direct supervisor, and the person who makes the final hire decision.

The time required may vary depending on the design and execution of each week’s lab activities. The number of work hours per week must be part of your interview conversation, and the suggested hours and required schedule will be determined by the course instructor.

• Must be a La Sierra University student currently enrolled in the Spring 2025 quarter
• Must be able to start work on or before required start date March 31
• Must have taken BIOL185L or 474L and passed with a grade of B or higher
