Laars Heating Systems is seeking a Director of Operations who will be responsible for a broad array of functional areas including Manufacturing, Fulfillment, Manufacturing & Industrial Engineering, Lean / Continuous Improvement, Facilities, Planning, Supply Chain, Inventory Management, Warehousing, Transportation and Distribution. Responsibilities may include oversight of multiple facilities. As a key member of the leadership team, the role is responsible for leading major strategic initiatives, recommending & implementing changes in manufacturing, warehousing, planning, supply chain, developing and maintaining relationships with key operational personnel at our customers, and collaborating with all departments and partners including creation of manufacturing standards for and driving continuous improvement in safety, quality, on-time delivery, cost control and waste reduction.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Ensures that manufacturing capacities and the organization’s ability to support expected demand are in line with company requirements at all times |
· Provides oversight to ensure the success of major project initiatives such as new capital equipment, process improvements, and new product launches |
· Maintains a conspicuous and compelling presence and advocacy in the continuous improvement of business and manufacturing processes |
· Maintains direct and effective relationships with major customers and suppliers to ensure that their voice is heard and addressed through all Manufacturing policies and practices |
· Provides executive level leadership and oversight to Manufacturing, Fulfillment, Manufacturing & Industrial Engineering, Facilities, Planning, Supply Chain, Warehousing, Transportation and Distribution functions |
· Actively engages functional peers to stay abreast of new product development activities and ensures a responsible and timely response to the need for manufacturing support and capability |
· Supervises other managers/supervisors as well as professional staff at one or more location(s); develops direct reports, maintains succession planning, organization design, identification and development of future leaders |
· Leads Manufacturing team to provide seamless coordination for all functions to ensure effective support of production operations and customer satisfaction |
· Demonstrates functional leadership in the area of plant safety and environmental compliance; ensures that effective procedures are in place, and followed, to enhance the health and safety of employees and be a responsible member of the community |
· Prepares periodic business plans and operating budgets for all functional areas responsible including projections and pro forma analysis, as required; monitors budget-to-actual performance and responds in a timely and appropriate manner |
· Resolves customer service issues and builds positive, long-term relationships with internal and external partners; serves as focal point for other departments for operational issues related to distribution and global trade |
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree required, master’s degree preferred
- Minimum of 10 years of related experience
Skills:
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and analytical skills to identify issues and implement effective solutions.
- Proficiency in manufacturing software systems (e.g., ERP systems) for tracking production metrics.
- In-depth knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Experience in budget management and cost control within a manufacturing environment.
