What are the responsibilities and job description for the Asbestos Air and Project Monitor position at LaBella Associates?
We are currently seeking an Asbestos Air and Project Monitor with a preferred 1-3 years of experience to support our growing program in Buffalo, NY.
This position requires an intermediate level of technical working knowledge of New York State Code Rule 56, as well as other federal, state and local regulations pertaining to hazardous and regulated building materials. A successful candidate will be performing environmental monitoring services on asbestos abatement/ remediation projects in Buffalo and the Western NY area. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring contractor compliance with state and federal regulations. While a construction or environmental background is preferred, LaBella will provide all required classroom and field training necessary to properly set up the candidate for success.
A successful candidate would be self- motivated with the willingness to learn, train, and build their knowledge through classroom and project experience. As this role requires working on various active construction sites, the candidate should enjoy time in the field and be able to work independently and responsibly. Duties
- Workstation varies depending on assignment.
- May require entry into containment areas.
- Use of appropriate personal protective equipment required at field sites, (i.e., respirators, disposable suits, boots, gloves, hard hats, and eye protection).
- Frequent travel may be required using rental vehicle, company vehicle, or personal vehicle. This travel may include overnight stays at public accommodations and related establishments.
- Job duties may require exposure to weather and temperature extremes, loud noises, heights (climbing ladders, scaffolding, etc.) and other work-safety hazards (chemicals, fumes, etc.) at a construction site.
- Must be available to occasionally work a modified work schedule or extended workday hours, as necessary.
- Reliable transportation to commute between project sites.
- Associates or BS in a Science, Engineering or Construction related field.
- 1-3 years of experience is preferred.
- Current NYSDOL Asbestos Project Monitor / Air Technician certifications is preferred.
- Must be able to pass annual physical examination to confirm ability to wear a respirator.
- Flexible hours – some off shift and weekend work may be required
- Ability to lift 50 lbs (sampling equipment)
- Excellent oral and written communications skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
- Proficiency in PC applications such as Outlook, Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint.
Salary Range: $37,440 - $45,760 per year
