The CNO collaborates with other Nursing and Clinical Managers to develop and implement strategic initiatives, improve clinical practices, and enhance patient outcomes. The role requires strong leadership, exceptional clinical knowledge, and the ability to manage nursing operations effectively.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Provides leadership and carries responsibility for clinical services and resource management of patient care functions
- Assures achievement of facility goals in conjunction with the mission statement and adherence to regulatory and accrediting standards
- Responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and controlling the administrative functions of the patient care service areas; delegates to appropriate levels; supervises and coordinates nursing services; and evaluates clinical standards to ensure safe, efficient, and therapeutically effective health care delivery
- Monitor and evaluate patient care delivery to ensure high standards of quality and safety.
- Serve as a liaison between nursing staff and executive leadership; Advocate for nursing staff and represent their interests in organizational decision-making
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and standards of nursing practice
- Oversee Risk Management and Medical Staff Services, including provider privileging.
- Oversee budgeting, staffing, and resource allocation for nursing and assigned clinical departments.
- Is a member of the Senior Executive Team; participates with other leaders in the Governing Board, Medical Staff, Administrative Staff, Department Directors, and other clinical services structures and processes; and reports to the Chief Executive Office.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) required. Master’s Degree in Nursing (M.S) preferred.
- Minimum 2 years Executive Level management experience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Strong leadership and management skills
- Experience in healthcare administration and strategic planning
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- In-depth knowledge of nursing practices, regulations, and healthcare standards
