The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description As a Labor Services Representative Trainee 1, you would be trained, under supervision, to assist customers and provide services to the public in accordance with quality and quantity standards mandated by various laws, rules and Federal regulations. You would learn how to interview and elicit information from customers, examine claims issues and make determinations to resolve complex or unusual problems related to eligibility for Unemployment Insurance benefits. You will compile, retrieve, and/or work various periodic and ad hoc reports. You may also supervise subordinate staff, provide individual and group training, handle escalated calls or referrals, and complete other duties as needed information from customers, examine claims issues and make determinations to resolve complex or unusual problems related to eligibility for Unemployment Insurance benefits.

The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide program (NY HELPS). For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, if they meet the below NY HELPS minimum qualifications. NY HELPS Non-Competitive Minimum Qualifications: You must have a Bachelor’s degree**Your degree must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education. If your degree was awarded by an educational institution outside the United States or its territories, you must provide independent verification of equivalency. Candidates are responsible for the evaluation fee.It is expected that employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status in the future, without having to compete in an examination. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified. Note: For 70.1 transfers, a comprehensive list of titles approved for transfers is available 70.4 Transfer Qualifications: One year of permanent or contingent-permanent or 55b/c service as a Grade 11 or higher and a passing score on Labor Services Representative exam and a bachelor’s degree *. Note: Candidates must not have failed the most recent examination for this title. Appointments are made at the Trainee 1 level. *Your degree must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education. If your degree was awarded by an educational institution outside the United States or its territories, you must provide independent verification of equivalency.
