The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description Applicants must be physically able to perform the tasks of the position and able to understand and carry out written or oral instructions. When required to operate motor vehicles, incumbents must possess a valid New York State driver’s license appropriate for the type of vehicle being operated.Duties: - Supervise subordinate maintenance staff that includes Maintenance Supervisor I, Trades Generalist and Maintenance Assistants - Work with supervisors to schedule daily/weekly tasks/projects- Communicate schedules with management- Review and approve time sheets and travel expense vouchers- Must possess a valid NYS driver’s license- Have general maintenance knowledge- Ability to initiate and maintain relationships across a diverse set of stakeholders- Ability to guide staff in basic building maintenance and repair tasks using the appropriate tools and equipment- Travel to various sites across NYS

The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide program (NY HELPS). For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, if they meet the below NY HELPS minimum qualifications.NY HELPS Non-Competitive Minimum Qualifications: Two years of first-level supervisory experience in either the maintenance and operation of a physical plant; building construction; and/or building renovation and/or repair projects. It is expected that employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status in the future, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified. Proficient computer skills, scheduling and have a valid CDL.
