The Opportunity
Expanding Personal Injury Law Firm has an immediate opening for an Accounting Assistant in our Lafayette, Louisiana office.
We are seeking a meticulous Accounting Assistant to be accountable to provide financial, administrative, and clerical support to the firm. This role requires strong interpersonal skills where professionalism, confidentiality, and integrity are showcased. A successful candidate for the role will be team and detail-oriented. Success in this role will also require the ability to multi-task and be solution driven to ensure accurate and timely processing of all matters.
Objective
Provide financial, administrative, and clerical support to the firm by efficiently maintaining and processing Lines of Credit, Accounts Payable Purchases, and other special projects.
Desired Outcomes
Accountable for Lines of Credit
Process client lines of credit (LOC)
Post LOC fund deposits in both accounting and case management software
Keep Excel spreadsheets updated
Upload forms to clients’ disbursal folders in case management software
Make principal payments as necessary
Update interest for payoff date as requested by Settlement Coordinator
Keep files accurate and current through life of the loan
Communicate with the bank to process renewals as needed, paying attention to case status
Once loan has been paid off, send file to Paralegal
Accountable for Accounts Payable Purchases
Following Partner approval of Aged Payables, remit vendor payments
Record vendor payments in accounting software, keeping necessary documentation
Maintain current credentials for various vendor payment portals
Positive Pay
Remit payments as necessary on corporate credit card
Accountable for miscellaneous tasks
Special projects and reconciliations as assigned by Supervisor
Run and save Operating & Trust Reports when prompted by Paralegals
Monthly invoicing for contract Attorney matters
Corrections to case management and accounting software as needed
Requesting W-9s as needed
Follow up on outstanding transactions to determine status
Importing daily charges to client matters
Answering various calls and questions throughout the day

Education and Experience
Proficient in data entry, general analysis, reconciliation, and quality control
1-3 years accounts payable or general accounting experience preferred
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
