You will play a key role in fabricating metallic and nonmetallic parts for industrial equipment and machinery. Your expertise in mill and lathe machining will ensure precision and efficiency in every component.
Responsibilities
- Blueprint Interpretation: Analyze blueprints, sketches, drawings, and manuals to determine dimensions, tolerances, and machining requirements.
- Machine Operation: Operate conventional, special-purpose, and CNC machines, including mills, lathes, jig borers, and grinders, to produce precision parts.
- Setup and Calibration: Set up fixtures, cutting tools, and materials. Calculate and adjust controls for speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth of cut.
- Machining Precision: Conduct trial runs and verify machine accuracy. Monitor operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining.
- Inspection and Quality Control: Use metrology tools like micrometers, calipers, and other standard equipment to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Component Assembly: Fabricate and assemble mechanical parts and systems, ensuring proper dimensions and alignment.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve machining and tool-related issues to optimize performance.
- Safety and Maintenance: Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
- Associate’s degree in Industrial Arts or Metal Fabrication, or 3 years as a machinist in an industrial toolroom.
- Proficiency in ASME Y14.5 standards, GD&T, and standard metrology tools.
- Strong troubleshooting and toolmaking skills, with experience in precision machining and assembly.
- Ability to resolve practical problems with innovative solutions in non-standardized environments.
- Proficient in geometry, trigonometry, fractions, percentages, and ratios.
- Comfortable working near moving machinery, standing for extended periods, and lifting up to 50 lbs regularly.
