What are the responsibilities and job description for the Buyer position at Labrie Enviroquip?
I. SUMMARY OF THE FUNCTION
Under the responsibility of the procurement supervisor, the main function of the buyer is to ensure the supply of the components required for production of the various facilities of the company and the after-sales service. He or she ensures the consistency of purchases made with production requirements and prescribed inventory levels. He or she manages the purchases of its commodities based on quality, lead time, total cost of acquisition, and service level.
II. RESPONSIBILITIES
· Analyze and address the purchase propositions generated by the MRP system or other request outside the MRP according to production and after-sales service needs.
· Analyze shortages and quickly take action to fill in the requirements; propose alternative plans if necessary.
· Ensure delivery of goods on time.
· Address reschedule in and out message or cancelation from the MRP system.
· Optimize inventory turnover and maintain prescribed inventory levels (ABC management).
· Respect compliance with agreements with various vendors.
· Support the supervisor in the various improvement projects and cost savings.
· Manage non-conformities with the quality department and suppliers; credit monitoring and request corrective action plan if applicable.
· Follow up open orders with supplier and make sure they meet requirement.
· Negotiate price list, develop stocking agreement with vendor, and share price increase with detailed information (%, Total spend, etc.) with his or her direct report.
· Calculate parts purchasing parameters, maintain them in the MRP system, and review if necessary.
· Monitor supplier performance and manage corrective action requests of necessary.
· Work toward meeting the objectives monitored by the department’s key performance indicator (Order acknowledgement, on-time delivery, quality, inventory level/obsolescence, etc.)
III. KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
· IMMEDIATE SUPERIOR
· Purchasing Supervisor: For direct supervision, work direction, training and instruction, project management and performance review. A generous level of autonomy is granted to the Buyer to initiate action and make decisions.
· INTERNAL
· Parts Center, Production and Warehouse Associates: To exchange information on the availability of parts and ensure correctness of order information.
· Service Associates: To exchange information regarding problems with products.
· Accounting Associate: To review pricing inquiries, PPV, price gap between PO and invoice.
· Planning Associate: To inform about availability of part.
· Engineering Associate: To inform them when parts are discontinued at supplier or drawing error.
· Manufacturing engineering Associate: To support decision of make vs buy.
· Quality Associate: To have support with DMR (technical issues) and corrective action plan request, with qualification process and audit.
· ALL LABRIE QUEBEC AND LABRIEPLUS OSHKOSH STAFF IN GENERAL
· To exchange information and solicit suggestions.
· EXTERNAL
· Suppliers/vendors: To evaluate services and products for functionality, quality, cost and availability, and maintain good business relationships.
IV. WORK ENVIRONMENT AND POSITION-RELATED CONSIDERATIONS
· Work requires a low degree of physical effort and is generally performed inside (sheltered) in both office and manufacturing environments. The potential for accidents and exposure to recognized health hazards is minimal.
· Equipment or items used will include computer equipment and general office and communications equipment.
V. REQUIRED PROFILE
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES
· A minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent. One (1) to three (3) years of college course work in business, purchasing, manufacturing operations, or comparable area of study is essential
· Minimum of one (1) year to three (3) years of relevant experience in supply chain management/procurement
