Job Purpose: The Engineering Technician is responsible for performing a variety of duties in support of new and existing product development as well as troubleshooting and repairing a variety of mechanical and electrical systems. This role requires a deep understanding of mechanical & electrical schematics and control circuits.
Essential Job Functions
- Conducts inspections and testing of prototypes as well as existing products.
- Solders both circuit boards and wiring as needed.
- Troubleshoots electrical circuits.
- Provides testing and Engineering support for Engineered Solution and Value Engineering Projects.
- Troubleshoots equipment using hand tools, microscopes, multimeters, and other tools as needed.
- Meets production schedules as needed.
- Troubleshoots technical problems and determines solutions in accordance with product and customer specifications, recommending actions to customer representatives for solution.
- Communicates repair status and issues to the RMA Supervisor as well as other necessary departments during the repair process.
· Carefully follows established build and test procedures.
- Simulates a part or assembly’s reported failure and then troubleshoot using assembly-to-component approaches.
- Collaborates with engineers, supervisor, and other technical workers to assist with assembly and repair techniques.
- Communicates findings and works with Manufacturing Engineer to drive to root cause.
- Writes and maintains test procedures for new and existing product.
- Other duties as assigned.
General Requirements:
· A minimum of 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment, including 2 years in a troubleshooting role.
· Associates degree in a technical discipline preferred.
· Basic knowledge of CE testing.
· Soldering experience, preferably under J-std guidelines.
· 3 years of experience with rapid prototyping and fabrication.
· Ability to read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics and identify symbols and control circuits with a high degree of competency.
· Proficiency in a variety of computer software including the use of spreadsheets, databases, graphs, and word processing. Experience with programming languages preferred.
· Strong interpersonal skills and professional demeanor to deal with internal and external contacts.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills.
· Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to work effectively in a multitask environment under deadlines. Must work independently and show initiative.
· Flexibility to deal with regularly changing schedule priorities in a fast-paced environment.
· The ability to meet challenges that lie beyond the current position description and learn to solve problems creatively.
· Ability to effectively perform the entire above mentioned essential job functions.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
