Assistant Director for Childcare Daycare Preschool

Ladybird Academy is a premier childcare center and is currently seeking a member of the leadership team:

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR

To assist in the daily managing and running of the school in accordance with the Department of Children and Families (DCF) regulations and Ladybird Academy policies and procedures. This position will be responsible for the center in the absence of the Director and will supervise, lead, and train a team of early childhood educators.

• Overall responsibility in the absence of the Director.
• Train and motivate staff
• Supervise and support the staff in carrying out their duties.
• Organize and plan staff schedules in coordination with the Director.
• Maintain a good relationship with parents and/or guardians.
• Assist in carrying out safety checks,monthly fire drills, tornado drills, and lockdown drills.
• Resolve parent concerns in the absence of the Director.
• Attend meetings with other agencies.
• Monitor and sign accident/incident forms in the absence of the Director.
• Distribute medication when necessary.
• Provide classroom coverage as needed
• Ensure curriculum is being implemented correctly.
• Assist in the organization of field trips when necessary.
• Observe in classrooms.
• Maintain student files.
• Assist teachers with ASQ’s and Progress Reports as needed
• Provide front desk coverage: phones, tours, etc.
• Any other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• 45 state mandated training hours
• Child Development Associate (CDA) or higher level education
• Level 1 or higher level Director’s Credential with VPK endorsement preferred or be able to obtain within reasonable period
• First Aid/CPR certification
• Ability to be cleared for driving a 15 passenger bus
• Excellent communication, leadership, and training abilities
• Proficiency in computer applications to include Word, Excel, Publisher
• Business writing skills to include ability to generate proper emails, flyers, and letters
• No pending or past arrest record
• Willing to be assigned to alternate locations, from time-to-time

Work Environment

• Must be able to adapt to continuously changing, fast-paced environment, and make the children's need the primary focus.
• Must be an educator. Ladybird Academy is an educational facility and prides itself on teaching and educating children preparing them for the next stage in their lives.
• Must be able to fully engage in physical activity ranging from sitting at a desk for extended periods of time to lifting up to 50lbs.
• Must be able to kneel, squat, stoop, crawl, lift, push, and pull.
• Must be able to engage in activities including but limited to jumping, dancing, and running, walking, hopping, and skipping.
