To grow our team in Detroit, we are seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician with extensive hands-on experience in hydraulics, pneumatics and fluid systems, preferably with stamping and injection molding presses. The desired candidate must be very capable at trouble-shooting complex hydraulic and mechanical systems and developing effective short and long-term countermeasures for breakdown, with a track record of developing and implementing design improvements to existing equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform troubleshooting activities, implement corrective actions, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure capability for production equipment;
- Proactively monitor equipment (running condition and overall efficiency);
- Support machine setup and process adjustments;
- Conduct analysis of existing equipment designs to discover opportunities for improvement and recommended maintenance procedures;
- Deliver both formal and informal training to team members, including production personnel, to enhance overall understanding of equipment capabilities;
- Build and maintain end of arm tooling for press automation systems;
- Respond to work orders and assure timely resolution of requests;
- Inspect and maintain existing equipment to ensure production of quality products which comply with company and customer standards and specifications;
- Monitor inventory of items required to perform necessary duties, and submit procurement requests as required;
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment;
- Comply with standardized work instructions, suggest improvements as appropriate;
- Cooperate with internal and external certification audits and customer audits, supporting site initiatives towards achieving and maintaining customer awards as well as quality and environmental certifications (IATF, TS, ISO);
- Adhere to Handbook, Quality, Safety, and Environmental standards, policies, and procedures;
- Assure all safety devices are properly in place and utilized, Lockout/Tagout procedures are adhered to, PPE is worn correctly at all times, and reporting of any near-misses, injuries, or accidents occurs immediately;
- Perform additional duties and tasks as deemed necessary and appropriate.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
- Advanced technical training in mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems (including Fluid Power Hydraulics Certification preferred);
- Minimum of five (5) years documented related experience
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a production facility working;
- Five (5) years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Preferred qualifications include eight (8) years of documented related experience and/or completion of apprenticeship program. Department of Labor (DOL) issued Journeyman’s card (Industrial Maintenance Technician or Machine Repair classifications) strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to read and interpret prints (European schematics a plus);
- Ability to obtain hilo and crane certifications;
- Ability to work at heights using manlifts and ladders, as well as performance of roof work;
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Basic welding (Arc, MIG, TIG, and spot), and plumbing knowledge
- Desire to work in a team-based, lean-manufacturing environment;
- Strong interpersonal and time-management skills, with the ability to be an innovator and change agent;
- Willingness to travel for training, and as other business needs may dictate;
- Ability and willingness to work any shift, as well as overtime, as required to meet business requirements;
- Ability to provide own basic tools.

Pay: From $36.00 per hour
