What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Clerk position at Lafayette Consolidated Government?
PURPOSE AND NATURE OF WORK
Process accounts payable, accounts receivable, and inventory. Assist in the budgetary and control processes. Receive invoices or material receipts, ensure proper signatures are obtained, and that account numbers are correct. Process purchase orders, direct pay requisitions; record received and issued supplies and materials, issue stock numbers, maintain accounts, balance purchase orders and / or purchase requisitions, with records of supplies and materials. Prepare necessary reports, budget recommendations, and requisitions for personnel and supplies. Work with vendors to resolve billing issues and to request quotes on non-contract items. Work closely with more advanced level financial personnel to resolve issues.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Completion of high school supplemented by additional specialized training in bookkeeping or accounting, and experience in government and utilities accounting.
TYPE OF EXAMINATION
Examination will be a multiple-choice test.
